Ramblings of a tired mommy...
I have been thinking of excuses lately. I was having a conversation with a girlfriend of mine this weekend and we were talking about exercise. She has been talking to me for years about how she wants to start running but.... There is always a new reason behind that *but* each and every time. I don't ask her why she doesn't exercise, I don't even start the conversation. She offers her excuses freely. This weekend the excuse is she doesn't have running gear. I said it helps to have good running shoes for when you start getting some distance on your runs but I personally don't buy any other special equipment. My favorite running shorts are plain black ones from Walmart and probably under $10 (as I am kind of cheap that way!). This is where I think of the old saying, 'If there is a will, there is a way'. One of my sisters has run multiple 1/2 marathons without marathon-calibre shoes. She wears cross-trainers for goodness sakes! (-:
Don't get me wrong, I have my share of excuses. Especially for when it comes to eating properly. Well, maybe I don't use a lot of excuses. I am lazy. I don't feel like it. I would rather play on the computer. Those are the same reasons my house is often a mess and why I miss my runs and the gym. Are those excuses? I see them more as the truth. I work, have a 45 minute commute, have a husband and two kids but the reason my house is a mess is NOT because I don't have time, it is because I am lazy to do it. I have energy to read a book, watch TV and play on the computer.
I decided to google 'excuses' to see what I would find. I found websites with the sole focus on giving us original and favorite excuses for everything in life such as why we are late for work, why our work is not done, etc. I did find an awesome quote or two which I will share here. I really need to turn things back on myself and make sure I am not making excuses for things in my life. Sometimes noticing faults in others help us realize our own. My goal for this week is to make no excuses!
Plant your garden of success today:
First, plant 3 rows of peas;
Patience
Positive thinking
Persistence
Next, plant 3 rows of squash;
Squash excuses
Squash blame
Squash criticism
Then, plant 3 rows of lettuce;
Let us be responsible
Let us be trustworthy
Let us be ambitious
Finish, with 3 rows of turnip;
Turn up when needed
Turn up with a smile
Turn up with confidence
So what are your favorite excuses?

Really... should I be blogging??
Well folks, I am finally blogging. I just love reading about my friends and family on their blogs and maybe someone would like to know what I am up to sometimes. I am hoping two things, that I blog often and that I rarely blog. Makes no sense at all, I know. I would like to make it a habit to 'journal' my childrens' childhood and my journey back through school but I hope I am spending all my free time studying, NOT distracted (once again) on the computer. Oh well... we will wait and see! btw, school starts up again full-time August 24 2009. Yikes!
